History
One hundred years ago the spirit of love in Christ began at the churches of Visitation, Holy Ghost and St. Ann.
Holy Ghost was the "German" parish just a couple of blocks north of Visitation on Taylor Ave. Visitation was the "Irish" parish and in the late 1940's it became the first Catholic parish in this Archdiocese to racially integrate it's grade school. St. Ann's, a few blocks east of the Visitation location, was the site of a lively devotion and annual Novena to St. Ann, the grandmother of Jesus.
The past is a blessing and we welcome and anticipate the future. In this new millennium, we are a chosen people that represent and live God's word and love in this part the world.
The three parishes are now together united as one parish family called, "Visitation/St. Ann's Shrine." Our parish community is comprised of three and four generations. We've been given the obligation of rearing, nurturing, and educating our community. The task is most serious and we as a parish family accept this responsibility.
Primarily, we are focused on prayer, community concerns and assistance, health care, safe clean environment and safety of human life. We continue the global prayers and annual Novena of St. Ann as an outreach to all. Our St. Vincent de Paul Society is an outreach to those less fortunate. Our Sunday celebration of Mass is an outreach to all those who hunger for a lively experience of the Word and Spirit of Jesus Christ.
The basic premise that guides us is to spread the spirit of love in Christ. As a parish family, we are known for our warm and loving hospitality. Come and see.
